Clear Shrink Wrap Rolls
Clear shrink-film specification

Match the roll to the pack, sealer and tunnel before production supply.

The clear shrink-film range covers enquiries for retail presentation, wrapping, bundling and product protection. Film material, presentation, width, gauge and roll length are confirmed at quotation because the correct combination depends on the product and process.

Selection and machine data

Pack geometryProvide the product's maximum dimensions, bundle pattern, sharp edges, weight and required overlap or seam position.
FilmIdentify POF, PVC, LDPE or the current material, plus width, gauge, centre-fold or single-wound presentation, roll core and diameter.
SealingState sealer type, jaw or wire, temperature control and dwell. Confirm that the film forms a repeatable seal without sticking, splitting or excessive residue.
ShrinkingProvide tunnel or heat-source details, temperature, airflow, conveyor speed and any product sensitivity to heat.
FinishSet acceptance criteria for clarity, tightness, distortion, holes, labels, corners and product presentation.

Material claim and collection route

“Clear” describes appearance, not polymer or recyclability. Identify the exact film before preparing an environmental statement. Recycle Now lists LDPE-marked wrapping and several plastic-film formats among materials accepted at selected out-of-home collection points, while the English household collection requirement for films is scheduled for 31 March 2027.

POF, PVC and LDPE have different processing and collection contexts. Use the current film and wrapping guidance, and retain the supplier declaration for the exact roll. Avoid claiming that any shrink film is universally collected or recycled.

Representative film trial

Trial the intended product and machine, recording seal and tunnel settings. Check seal integrity, shrink appearance, distortion, puncture or tears, label protection, product damage and repeatability at the expected operating condition. A film result from a different machine, gauge or pack is not a substitute for the project trial.

For shrink wrapping equipment, use Lancing's packaging machinery site. For film specification, compare the shrink-film buying guide, POF guide and LDPE guide.

Repeatable film approval

Record the film and machine settings that produced the accepted shrink pack.

A clear shrink-film range can include different materials and roll formats. Repeat supply should be controlled by the exact film reference, dimensions, gauge and trial record rather than by clear appearance alone.

Film and process record

Film referenceRecord the declared material and supplier item, including any relevant structure or treatment.
Roll detailsState width, open width where relevant, gauge, centre-fold or single-wound presentation, length, core and roll diameter.
Pack geometryProvide the maximum product dimensions, bundle pattern, weight, orientation, sharp edges, overlap and acceptable seal position.
SealerIdentify machine type, wire or jaw, temperature, dwell, pressure where controlled and the condition of the sealing components.
Tunnel or heat sourceRecord temperature, airflow, conveyor speed or dwell and any zone settings used for the approved pack.
Output conditionTest at the intended production condition because heat loading and repeatability can differ from isolated sample packs.
AcceptanceDefine seal integrity, tightness, clarity, distortion, holes, edge damage, label protection, product damage and presentation.
Environmental evidenceKeep the exact material declaration and verified collection or commercial recovery route; appearance and a resin name are not enough for a universal claim.

Keep the approved roll with the approved pack

Retain the roll label, a film sample and an accepted wrapped product with the recorded machine settings. If width, gauge, material, sealer, tunnel or pack geometry changes, repeat the relevant approval checks rather than assuming the previous result transfers.

Use the polyolefin film guide where POF is being considered and the sealer compatibility guide to prepare machine data. Shrink-wrapping equipment belongs on the Lancing machinery site.

For quotation, send the current film label or sample, pack dimensions, bundle pattern, sealer and tunnel details, required finish, first-order quantity and forecast usage. Lancing will confirm available film variants, current minimum order, supply status, lead time and supporting documents for the selected roll.

Clear film roll approval

Specify material, gauge, width, presentation and equipment together.

The correct clear shrink film roll must fit the pack and the machine. Material family, gauge and width are only part of the requirement; centrefold or layflat presentation, core, winding, perforation, shrink behaviour and sealing response can all affect the result.

Information for the roll quote

  • Product or bundle dimensions and orientation before wrapping.
  • Required finished appearance, containment and opening method.
  • Current film reference or preferred POF, PVC or LDPE family.
  • Gauge, width, fold, roll/core limits and any perforation requirement.
  • Sealer, chamber or tunnel details and representative product samples.

Information for approval

Record the exact roll and machine settings that produce an acceptable seal and shrink result. Check holes, seal strength, distortion, dog-ears, product damage and consistency. The film comparison guide helps select the starting family.
