Review ecommerce-oriented pack formats in the context of the actual primary product and outer shipping protection.
Test the complete filled pack and its protective secondary packaging against the handling conditions it is expected to encounter. Parcel distribution can expose individual packs to repeated drops, mixed orientations, compression, vibration, abrasion and temperature changes that differ from stable pallet movement. The test plan should reflect the actual pack, shipment and failure consequences.
Define the sales unit, inner and outer pack, fill level, permitted orientation, carrier route and unacceptable failure before selecting a test. Include leakage, closure movement, puncture, abrasion, label legibility and product damage, then retain the test configuration so later changes can be compared consistently.
The test programme should reflect the actual sales unit, outer pack, fill, route and failure consequences. Use a current customer or formal test protocol where one applies, and retain identified samples and acceptance criteria so a material or component change can be assessed later.

Parcel packs may spend more time on their side or inverted, encounter localised impacts and rub against mixed items. A closure that is adequate upright on a pallet may leak after impact or vibration; a pouch can be punctured by another component; a label can scuff or detach; and shrink film can tear at a sharp edge.
Map the actual sales unit, inner pack and outer shipping pack. The primary pack should not be assessed in isolation when secondary protection is part of the system.
Assemble the exact filled product with its final closure, liner or fitment, label, tamper evidence and any shrink film, insert or case. Test the pack in permitted and accidental orientations, then inspect leakage, closure movement, seal damage, scuffing, legibility and consumer opening.
Use representative fill level and headspace. A low-risk water dummy may be useful for early screening, but final approval should reflect the actual product where compatibility and viscosity affect the result.
Define the shipment configuration, route, temperatures, orientations, impacts, vibration or compression relevant to the business and the acceptance criteria. Record sample batches and precondition the packs where storage environment can matter. Inspect immediately and after a defined rest period for slow leakage or label changes.
Where a formal standard or customer protocol applies, use the current authorised procedure and competent test provider rather than substituting a generic in-house sequence.
Review changes to resin or web structure, wall or gauge, bottle or pouch geometry, closure, liner, label, adhesive, fitment, secondary pack, fill volume, product, pallet or parcel configuration and carrier route. Retest the affected risks when prior evidence no longer represents the supplied pack.
Use the compatibility test plan and retain approved samples so apparently minor substitutions can be compared.
