Design the label for the pack, application method and service conditions.

A custom label is more than artwork. The face stock, adhesive, liner, print, finish, winding and roll dimensions must work with the bottle, pouch or carton and remain suitable from application through distribution and use.

Technical inputs

Pack surfaceIdentify material, shape, texture, curvature and label panel. PET, HDPE, glass, metal and flexible films do not present the same adhesion conditions.
ApplicationState hand or machine application, surface temperature, condensation, product contamination, line speed and pressure available for adhesive wet-out.
ServiceDefine moisture, refrigeration, oils, chemicals, abrasion, outdoor exposure and whether the pack will flex or be squeezed.
PrintProvide approved artwork, colour references, barcode requirements, finish and any overprinting or variable-data process.
RollConfirm label size and gap, web width, winding direction, core, maximum roll diameter, quantity and number of versions.

Label and pack recyclability

A recyclable container does not mean every label construction is neutral to the recycling process. The label or sleeve may need to remain attached, separate during reprocessing or be removed by the consumer. Recycle Now's guidance includes examples where caps stay on but sleeves are removed.

If a wash-off adhesive, a paper or film face stock, recycled content or a particular recycling compatibility is required, obtain the specification for the exact label construction. Record the adhesive and liner as well as the visible face stock; do not transfer a claim from one construction to another.

Proofing, trials and change control

Approve content, dimensions, colour, finish, barcode and winding on a proof, then test representative labels on the intended pack under application and service conditions. Where automatic application is planned, use the actual roll construction and consult Lancing's labelling machinery pages.

What is needed for a custom printed label quote?

Provide the container or pouch sample, finished label size, quantity by artwork version, face material and finish preference, colours, application method, roll direction, core, maximum roll diameter and delivery requirement.

How is the adhesive selected?

The adhesive is matched to the application surface, shape, temperature, moisture, product exposure, storage and service conditions. Representative application testing is recommended where failure would affect the pack.

Can one label construction suit PET, HDPE, glass and pouches?

Not automatically. Surface energy, curvature, flexibility, condensation and handling differ. Approve the selected stock and adhesive on the actual pack and under intended conditions.

Does a recyclable bottle mean any label can be used?

No. The label or sleeve can affect sorting and reprocessing. Confirm whether it stays with the pack, separates during processing or must be removed, and support the consumer instruction with current evidence.

Can artwork be changed after approval?

Changes to size, ink coverage, finish, barcode, material or adhesive can affect performance and should go through artwork and specification approval before production.

How are MOQ and lead time determined?

They depend on label construction, print method, number of versions, colours, finishing, roll format and quantity. Lancing confirms the current position against the approved specification.
