Clear PET bottle specification

Approve the bottle, closure and decoration as one pack.

This range page is a starting point for clear PET bottle enquiries. A usable specification still needs the exact capacity, bottle geometry, neck finish, closure, contents, fill conditions, label system and commercial quantity.

Selection variables

Contents and fillState the formulation, fill temperature, expected contact period and storage conditions. PET suitability should be checked for the actual product rather than inferred from appearance.
Capacity and shapeConfirm nominal fill, headspace, brimful capacity where available, bottle stability, label panel and any line-handling restrictions.
Neck and closureSupply the complete neck finish or approved cap reference. Thread, sealing surface, liner and tamper-evident features must match.
Material and colourClear PET supports product visibility. If PCR content is required, ask for a declaration linked to the exact item and approve any appearance or performance difference.
DecorationMatch label material, adhesive and artwork to the bottle surface, curvature, fill process and intended recycling instruction.

Recyclability and evidence

Recycle Now identifies PET as resin code 1 and reports that PET and HDPE bottles have broad UK collection coverage. That does not make every complete pack identical. The cap, liner, label, sleeve, colour, residue and local service remain relevant, so check the current plastic-bottle collection guidance and consumer labelling guidance before approving artwork.

Any recycled-content statement should be supported by the current supplier declaration for the bottle reference. Record the percentage, basis, document date and any visual or technical approval. Where product contact or another compliance requirement matters, obtain the applicable document rather than relying on a generic PET statement.

Current stock, minimum order, variants and lead time are confirmed for the exact capacity, shape, neck, colour and quantity at enquiry.

Sample trial and quote inputs

Send the product, target fill volume, fill temperature, bottle dimensions or preferred shape, closure function, label area, first-order quantity, annual forecast and delivery requirement. Where automatic handling is planned, include the filling, capping, labelling and conveyor interfaces. Lancing can review machinery separately through its packaging machinery catalogue.

For a trial, agree fill, closure, leak, drop, transport, storage and label-adhesion criteria that reflect the intended use. Compare the PET bottle material guide, bottle and cap compatibility guide and bottle label guide.

Range-to-item approval

Use a clear PET bottle range enquiry to lock the exact variant before purchasing.

A range page helps identify the required appearance and application, but the order specification should name one bottle reference, neck finish and closure combination. This prevents a visually similar bottle being treated as interchangeable without compatibility and line checks.

Approval fields for the selected bottle

Capacity and shapeState nominal fill, headspace, bottle dimensions, base and shoulder form, label panel and stability requirement.
Material and colourConfirm clear PET and any recycled-content requirement against the exact product declaration; do not apply a range-wide percentage.
Neck finishRecord the complete finish or drawing and the matched closure reference. A nominal diameter does not prove sealing compatibility.
ClosureIdentify screw cap, tamper-evident closure, pump, spray or nozzle function, including liner, seal and application method.
Filled productProvide contents, fill temperature, storage period and transport conditions so bottle, closure and label trials are representative.
DecorationConfirm label size, material, adhesive, print or sleeve, application method and any coding area.
Production handlingProvide filling, capping, labelling and conveyor samples or constraints where automatic line stability matters.
Supply controlAsk the quotation to state the item reference, included components, variants, current MOQ, stock or production status, lead time and available technical evidence.

Retain an approved complete pack

Keep a filled, capped and labelled approval sample together with the product references and trial conditions. The sample should demonstrate acceptable leak, opening, label, storage, transport and line-handling performance for the intended use. Where product compatibility or shelf life is critical, agree the review period before production supply.

For broader comparison, use the PET bottle material guide and recyclable bottle quote brief. Match the closure through the bottle-and-cap compatibility guide.

Where the bottle will run automatically, send the approved bottle, closure and label to the Lancing packaging machinery team so machine trials use the same pack specification.

Range selection and approval

Confirm the exact clear PET bottle variant before treating the range as a specification.

A range page can cover more than one volume, shape or neck option. The quotation should identify the selected bottle reference and the matching closure, label and production conditions rather than relying on the range photograph or a generic PET description.

State the required variant

  • Nominal and target fill volume, bottle shape and filled weight.
  • Complete neck finish and required cap, liner, pump, spray or tamper-evident feature.
  • Contents, filling temperature, storage orientation and distribution route.
  • Label dimensions, stock, adhesive and application method.
  • Order quantity, repeat forecast, required date and sample needs.

Approve the whole pack

Use production-equivalent samples to check closure fit, leaks, bottle deformation, label adhesion and appearance over the relevant storage and distribution period. Record the exact bottle and component references. The PET versus HDPE guide supports material screening and the PET label guide covers attached label considerations.
